3 Hour INTERMEDIATE CAKE DECORATING CLASS WITH CHEF MARIA

Hands-On Cake Decorating and Beginning Fondant Decorations- (Leaves and Pumpkins)

This is a three hour intermediate hands on class. You will each arrive to get your own pumpkin flavored cake to decorate. Each student will be provided a starter fondant decorating kit and materials needed. Chef Maria Streety will show you how to decorate a fall themed cake with fondant leaves and fondant pumpkins. As we will be moving quickly, we will not be spending a lot of time learning how to build and crumb a cake. The focus for this class is making fondant decorations. Prior experience in building and crumb coating a cake is strongly advised but not required. At the end of the class you will get to take home your work of art to enjoy.

Materials will be provided.

Bio:

Hello everyone! Thank you for taking this cake basics class! Before we begin,

let me tell you all a little bit about myself. In August of 1999, I began taking

classes at Kaiser College, Capital Culinary Institute in Tallahassee for Culinary

Arts. The school was not offering a Pastry Program at that time. Within the year

I had my first kitchen job at Kool Beanz Café. There I met an exceptional Pastry

Chef, Michelle Stout, who taught me everything I needed to know about Pastry.

After working there for a year I followed Executive Chef, Kevin Stout to Food

Glorious Food where I became Head Pastry Chef. From there I went on to become Executive Pastry Chef at the prestigious Governor’s Club and later at the University

Center Club. In 2010 I officially founded Artistic Confections and my success has

led me to the opening of my own store front here in Tallahassee. Since 2008,

my recipes have been featured on The Good Morning Show on WCTV cable

channel 9 with Art Myers. The show airs Wednesday Mornings during the

Celebrity Chefs Segment.
